Why has Council closed the Sports Ground?
Council decides to close grounds based on:
The potential for injury to players. The sport played and the potential for damage to the playing surface. The weather forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology. The condition of the ground when inspected.
The above points are the criteria used by the Hills Shire to base decisions on ground closures.
All of these criteria are still in play at the moment & some grounds may be in better condition than others. The second last criteria on the BOM weather forecast could still be a deciding factor with rain forecast over much of the weekend. It is still an each way bet for the entire round to go ahead.

Anyone know why Glenhaven Oval has been closed by Council? Is there a long term problem?

Was at Ted Horwood this morning. Rash decision to close. Fields were playable. Comittee needed to consider the backlog of catch-ups. They care more about maintaining the field than players They’ll throw up player safety as an excuse. What leads to a higher risk of injury? Playing in light rain or double headers?

Ground conditions are reviewed daily from Monday to Friday only by the council & not on weekends. If grounds are closed on the weekend it is at the discretion of the relevant club. It must be remembered that clubs have a duty of care to their players.

Duty of care? Really? The only risk the kids had was dying from laughter. You guys take yourselves way too seriously

Krusty what is in the cigarette that you are smoking ? I don't make any decisions I just give you the facts that people who make these decisions base their decisions on. I also hope that they do take their positions seriously in the best interests of all parties concerned.

Yet all over Europe Canada North America my extended family & their kids tell me they play in rain, snow & sleet. We are just so soft in every way.

The type of precipitation is irrelevant it is the actual condition of the grounds that are important.

Oracle, I smoke the good stuff mate. And no you do not give facts. Were you at Ted Horwood this morning? No. The fields were fine. Nothing but overzealous committee folk treating us like school children. Afternoon was perfectly fine to play games that are in desperate need of being played. People will simply walk away from the game if it’s going to be over regulated. I agree with Clover… we are becoming SOFT. I firmly believe this is why the current Socceroos are crap. Because they’re soft. Aussies used to be revered for their toughnesses, but that’s a thing of the past - these days mud is feared, how sad. Bring back the 80s. Peace.

So Krusty....let me get this straight. You are going to solve all our playing problems, including the Socceroos, by playing in the rain on suspect, sodden pitches to toughen everybody up. If only it was that easy.
By the way I do give the facts. I can't be at every ground on a Saturday morning to give you a pitch report for your particular playing field. So because I was unable to attend Ted Horwood yesterday morning doesn't mean what I have been saying is not factual.
Your are entitled to your opinion. I can understand that everyone is a little disappointed at the way the season has started due to circumstances beyond our control. Hopefully conditions will improve, we can get back to normal & move forward. Good luck with the rest of your season.
