With rain predicted every day for the next week or more it is looking highly likely that the first round will be washed out & probably round 2 as well. With Easter following it may be quite some time before we get on the pitch.

Hopefully they play the games scheduled for synthetic pitches. Going to need to play a lot of midweek catch-ups at Bernie Mullane to get back on track.

Agree macduff But there are clubs out there suggesting to HFI to postpone the whole round. Not sure why anyone would suggest canceling games unnecessarily. If there’s no flooding, lightning or hail games on synthetic should go ahead. I played at hills grammar a couple of weeks back after heavy rain. It was brilliant - the only downside is that you start wishing all games could be like that 😂

Surely Hills have learnt from previous year when they called off an entire round! Synthetic pitches are suppose to be there for a reason. It would be embarrassing if they called off full rounds again!

The reasoning behind calling off entire rounds (I think) is there are only a handful of synthetic pitches - not enough to get enough games done to leave room for the rest of the teams / grounds to 'catch up'
This leaves divisions at the end of year with some teams playing more games than others.
I agree that everyone should be playing as much as able - it does though also leave some clubs (without artificial grounds) at a disadvantage
One solution I think is to plan for / install more full size artificial grounds at any new public installations (like schools!) that can then be used by the wider community. Schools are empty on the weekend and the communities dollars are tied up in these places that could easily return more for the dollar spent. I am not suggesting that only artificial grounds are installed at schools - ideally both or real grass in other areas as well.

I reckon the bylaws are rather clear when reviewing the wet weather procedure on the HFI website.
Basically the way i read it, unless i am mistaken, it states that up to and including round 12, all games that can be played shall be played.
From round 13 and beyond comes down to how many grounds are closed and whether such round is made up or not.

And we (HFA) should also be using Valentine Sports park for washed out rounds - I understand its for NSW but do they have a few artificial grounds there as well?

The more games that get on using synthetic pitches this weekend, the less games need to be caught up later on. Close to 30 games could be played at Bernie and Hills Grammar on Saturday and most of the female games on Sunday. Hopefully HFI and the clubs can see the sense in this and not call the round off completely.
Completely agree that synthetic pitches should be installed at as many schools in the area as possible. Keep normal fields grass as they are multi use. If we had Model Farms, Crestwood, Baulko, Northmead, Muirfield, Castle Hill and Rouse Hill High Schools all with synthetic pitches we would get a significant number of games in, Summer Football wouldn't get interrupted and grass fields would get a better rest.

Why are there only 5 games on the synthetic fields at Hills Grammar the entire weekend? Also no games at all at Bella Vista Public synthetic?

Also no games at all at Bella Vista Public synthetic? I think its due to that ground not being allocated to any specific club - I don't think there are 'neutral' grounds in the comp - not 100% sure A falling over in the thinking though - these should be being utilised (and more installed) - HFA needs to review how to make that interaction / organisation possible.

You would like to think that if BVPS is not being used and there is room at Hills Grammar, then Hills would do a bit of reorganising the draw to get a few more games played.

Whilst public facilities are there for the public, HFA/we have no automatic entitlement to use public facilities - there needs to be an agreement process including co-ordination of responsibility / security / long term use - maintenance - replacement etc - even more so when dealing with a schools property rather than just an open field.
Its a process and one that you would have hoped the management in control of our Association may have foreseen and started the process of exploring before required rather than during / after.

And back on to topic - I see zero chance of normal fields playing this weekend or next weekend - the pitches are just swamps at the moment

The next fine day we will have is on Sunday which will be far too little far too late for this weekend. With rain also forecast to resume again on Wednesday it is looking grim for the following weekend. Hopefully things will get back to normal after Easter.

A decision by Hills at the earliest opportunity would be most appreciated by all.
