Does this announcement now mean that there is a path from Hills United to Dutch Football ?
From The Clean Sheet Facebook page -
Hills United Football Club manager Patrick Zwaanswijk has signed a 2 year deal as an international scout for FC Utrecht where he played 217 games and scored 27 goals in his six years at the Dutch club.

[ Potentially!! I know that HUFC organised a team of Dutch coaches to come out through the year to run sessions for the boys/girls from the club which was really well received!!

Great to hear that Hills Football have shown great wisdom and sense in continuing conversations with HUFC to run the representative programs in 2020!! Hopefully the clubs will be consulted and decisions will be made quickly that will be in the best interest of all Hills Football participants and will enable Hills Football to continue to focus on grassroots players who are the majority of the participants whilst HUFC continue to develop those players that have chosen this path!! Here’s hoping this continues!! So, is this happening? Hills Association is advertising for GSAP coaches on FNSW website footballnsw.com.au/positions_available/hills-football-girls-sap/

I got an email this week but can’t find it now, this huge speel on how awesome Hills Football would be for your daughter in GSAP. Blah blah. I hit delete. My daughter won’t trial again for Hills. No player pathway to NPL and only an offer to help gain selection into GCL at Hills United.
The only appealing note was $480 fees!?

Very unprofessional and inexperienced to be promoting to GSAP parents an offer that GSAP will help gain selection to GCL.
I have friends with kids in SAP and it is around $1500 per player and NPL is more than that.
I wouldn’t think $480 per player would cover the FNSW fees, insurance, playing equipment, field hire charges, coaching staff wages etc.
One can only then assume that the grass roots players will be subsidising the rep football players.
Surely not!!

Surely not!! I'm finding the name a little ironic Happy! I think it entirely reasonable to suggest GSAP will help with GCL selection.... the girls will have had good coaching and be a "known quantity" when it comes to GCL trials (hence, more likely to be selected). You're then complaining that the fees are too cheap? Even if they are being subsidised then this is the right kind of subsidisation. Local girls are being developed to become better players and if a little is skimmed off the adult and other fees, that's ok with me. (mind you I don't like the NPL model where junior fees are used to subsidise the seniors). So, this all sounds positive, I just wish HU were in charge.

I reckon I know what the answer would be if the clubs and their members were asked and given the opportunity to comment whether it was fair and reasonable that grass roots football should subsidise rep football. Don’t think many would agree.

You make good sense here Ange in a perfect and sensible world, however, if the relationship continues the way it is between Hills Football and HUFC then there is no pathway and the girls turn up to HU GCL or NPL as an unknown entity and trial as does everyone else!! Some merit in what you say with regards to the development helping their chances though!! I think Happy also makes a good point in that the decisions to move away should be a decision be the clubs and they should support it either way then having made the decision....

Heard that the GSAP parents have been told it will be FOUR training sessions per week (3 technique, 1 fitness). Whilst this represents great value for $480 it makes it really tough for families with multiple kids to commit to. Could end up with a squad of kids from 1 kid families!

No wonder it's cheap

Yep - An organisation called Super6 has muscled in with the promise of turning little Jenny into the next Ronda Rousey. Apparently this is how they do it in Europe and the reason we are struggling at international level is that we don't produce athletic-enough footballers.

No wonder it's cheap This is concerning, if your daughter can run 800m and do 20 push-ups this does not mean she can play football to any standard... then if she passes the beep test and joins the team she has to travel to Rooty Hill one night a week for strength and conditioning training for a ten year old!! Have heard the numbers at today’s trials were pretty ordinary for most age groups, has anyone heard how they went???

No wonder it's cheap This is deeply concerning and goes directly against the FFA curriculum. If numbers were thin for the first trial I think they will be even thinner for trial number 2 with girls seeking out nearby options like Blacktown City, Ravens and Mt Druitt where they teach football and fun rather than fitness.

I’m told it’ll be much more fun next week. Super 6 are bringing Dr Carl and they will have weight and body fat checks, following by egg and spoon races and an obstacle course.
