Phil Moss was on 2KY this morning, he reckons academies need to be reigned in a brought into line with the FFA... i only caught the end of the discussion, not sure what was said prior... So Phil Moss believes the FFA should hold some sort of jurisdiction over privately run academies, who mind you aren't even an registered entity of the FFA. Brain explosion is the way to best summarise that idea. Obviously he has no understanding of the private enterprise business system.

Clubs need to back FNSW/FFA initiatives not "privately" run enterprises. Case closed! Thanks.

If we waited for FFA initiatives we wouldn't have HFA.

I'll say one thing if Hakoah engage private academies over in the rarified air of the Eastern Suburbs then there is no way in the world the FFA will take a set against them anywhere.

One only has to review Regulations and Constitutions to see how over regulated sport has become simply because of individuals in positions of trust and power whose sole objective is too see what advantage they can obtain for their own interest going forward.
Stop trying to make things more difficult and just let people enjoy recreational sport on weekends.

Ray - your comments are spot on - let people enjoy recreational sport on weekends...... I would add though that this should not include having some clubs charge over $3,000 for a player to play grass roots football. If that happens than that becomes a money making exercise. Would you agree??

Would you agree?? No club should have any compulsory requirement that a player need to be part of an academy to play football for that club, however a academy should be allowed to offer their services if anybody feels they want extra training.

Ray - are you talking about additional individual skills training or are you referring to organised team coaching and team management within a competition??

This is driving me nuts trying to understand what the problem is. If people decide the fee is worth joining an academy why shouldn't they? If the academy then affiliates with a club, the players pay their FFA fee, and their is no kickback to the club, what is the problem? If the team is then Graded and is Division 1 or 2, what is the problem?
As long as the above criteria is met, what is the problem?
Someone? Anyone? I don't geddit.

Good Morning Ray - I too believe there is a place for academies noting there are many varying models out there, some good ones that provide good skills development, some focus on team play, some follow the FFA guidelines and some do not. And then there are A league clubs setting up their own.

People have a right to choice and football should be no different.

Not disagreeing with you Ray but would it be fair to say parents would normally do some research and consult with their child's school enquiring about accredited and appropriately trained tutors that will teach the syallabus correctly?? I know I did my checking with the school to help my child with some added assistance.
I can see the similarities and your view, suppose like football, there are good tutors that will teach the syllabus and poor ones that may not.
