Happy new year all, They put out a survey got 240 replies and ignored what the players asked for. Now it is on Sunday afternoon and only a 60 minute game. Baulko offered to host all games on Saturday afternoons on field 5 but this was rejected. 60 minute games was for the welfare of older players, North West Ass O/55 play 90 minute games with slide tackles aloud.
O/35 and O/45 when they started they were aloud 3 underage players but not the new O/55 comp. If they are afraid of loosing players from the O/45s then make it an O/60 comp with 3 under age players. Over 60's don't want to play O/45 so make it an O/60 comp, a lot of players will come back to play. The best idea is to register for O/55 push your club to back it, if a lot of clubs can't get enough players for 11 a side maybe we can start with 7 a side comp. Once a comp is established we can then tell Hills how we want the comp to be and on what day. Just get it going first.

There are likely some common sense reasons if HFI are looking to play O55 on Sundays.
- Some clubs are already stretched on Saturday fitting in their clubs home matches. Already matches scheduled for KO after 5pm at several grounds. - Fields are not fully utilised on a Sunday and accommodating a new competition is far easier. - The player population in Hills is growing faster than Hills council investment in development of new grounds. This is not going to change as population always grows faster than infrastructure. Moving matches away from Saturday has to happen if football is to grow in Hills. - Already a shortage of referees and assistant referees on Saturday, especially in the afternoon periods. Playing on a Sunday, there will likely be a referee and two assistants appointed for majority of matches.
Your comment "Just get it going first" is spot on. Embrace the change even if not what everyone wants.

It would be sensible to allow O55 players to duel registration with their O45 2023 team if the O55 comp doesn’t go ahead! Like last year Wednesday night O55 comp and the summer 2023 O55 didn’t have enough teams/players to start therefore the players where to late to register for their O45 teams!

Not sure where you get this info but meetings where the format was agreed Baulko agreed to Sunday and no offer to host.

North West Association is not the Norwest Club. No such request was made by Norwest, it’s what the North West Association run in their competition. Norwest FC are a foundation member of the Hills Football Inc. Two totally separate entities. Please get your facts right.

Why is HFI only offering 60-minute games for O55's when North West Association have 90-minute games for their O55's comp?
HFI is being too cautious and not offering what players want - so players won't sign up.
As for Sunday games - I'm not sure about ground shortages - I see plenty of empty fields on Saturday afternoons during the season - referees on the other hand i get, and if playing on Sundays helps then so be it, but alot of guys won't want to play on Sundays.
Anyway, if HFI wont provide exactly what we want we can find a club in North West Assoc.

"Baulko offered to host all games on Saturday afternoons on field 5 but this was rejected." This was put to the competitions committee but the board member on that committee did not want that. "North West Ass O/55 play 90 minute games with slide tackles aloud." "North West Association is not the Norwest Club. No such request was made by Norwest, it’s what the North West Association run in their competition." I have no idea what you are talking about, maybe you should read properly.

Has Hills released the details of the over 55's competition in writing as yet? Does it allow for playing 45s on Saturday and 55s on Sunday?

Has Hills released the details of the over 55's competition in writing as yet? Does it allow for playing 45s on Saturday and 55s on Sunday? Apparently somewhere on their website, if you have a teenager they can find it, for us older players they have hidden it somewhere so we can't find it. But at the moment you have to turn 56 this year to play, no underage players, you can't duel register O/45 and O/56, if you register O/56 you can play as a fill in player in the O/45's. Not sure about registering O/45 and playing as a fill in for O/56

Looks like Hills will get what they wanted, no O/55. No one wants Sunday afternoon and only a 60 minute game, so very few registered. Give us what we want Saturday afternoon, 80 minute games, 3 under age players.

My club was involved with the Competition sub committee just like yours and it was the clubs who chose to put O55s on a Sunday, maybe you should talk to your club

If North West Association can run a comp of O55s with 90mins games and slide tackle format then they know how fit people are in that district. It may sound too obvious but HFI must have taken the pulse of O55s living in the Hills area and accordingly have assumed they be treated as pensioners living in an O55s retirement village.

Guys when u wanted this first you said it was for your mental and physical state . You are given an opportunity to play football , why don't you just play . The reasons given seem very clear not letting it go ahead on Saturday. No officials available. Saturday is already crazy . I even think more teams should play Sundays . U have an opportunity, take it . And see how it goes .
