Well Hills are now doing the right thing and have sent out a survey to all over 50's to ask what they want. Hopefully all fill out the survey. Over 60 would be the better choice as it will not impact on the O/45 comp. Start small and allow 3 under age players, many players that have left would come back. 7 v 7, 9 v 9 or 11 v 11 does not matter. If you have not received the survey contact Hills.

5 Baulko players won gold in the O/65 at the Aust masters in Adelaide last week. There were other Hills players there as well and may have won medals.

Are there enough O60 players? O55 would have a better chance of getting off the ground wouldn’t it? How many ‘masters’ teams from Baulko? How many from other clubs? Need at least 6 teams I’d say.

The 2023 Over 70 World Cup in Chiang Mai, Thailand 30th Oct to 4th Nov. One of our own Hills payers from Baulko O/45 3, Keith Pierce and 3 other other ex Hills/Baulko players, Alan Williamson, Brian Williams and Hugo Gonzales have just come back from the O/70 World Cup in Thailand. They played for the Australian team the OASIS OLDYROOS 70 team. They came third in the tournament, a great result Australia. The next week in Pattaya Keith, Alan and ex Hills player George Dunatov, played with the OASIS OLDYROOS 70 team, coming 4th in the Thailand Senior Soccer Tournament. Also the OASIS OLDYROOS 60 team played in Pattaya, with 2 Hills Payers Denis Suleiman and Ruhullah Shaun Khozoes This team came 4th as well in the Over 60 comp. All a great result for older players at the hills. All 6 also play for the Hillsbillies

I have heard from a source that the survey results of 240 replies, 200 wanted Saturday afternoon 11 v 11. But Hills in all their wisdom decided to play it on Sunday afternoon!!!! So why do a survey??? The survey showed what the players want and they will not get it. If i am wrong please publish the results of the survey.

So there’ll be an O55 11v11 full field Sunday winter comp available in 2024? Is this 100% confirmed? Will players be able to dual register for O45s Sat and O55 Sun?

Talk to your club president or Hills direct because they are the only ones that know, nothing has been put out.

Regulation-2-Competition-Football-2023.pdf (644.82 KB) Regulation-2-Competition-Football-2023.pdf (644.82 KB) What the "players" wanted for an O55s comp vs what HFI has provided... 11 v 11 full field - Tick 80-minute games - No, HFI has gone for 4x15 min quarters, 60-minute games Played on Saturday afternoons - No, HFI has gone for Sundays Underage players during transition in the first few years - No, HFI are not allowing underage players These are not the actions of an association that is serious about providing the O55 comp everyone wants. HFI is purposely setting it up to fail. They are not treating it the same way O45s was established... for me they are being "Ageist" and they need to be called out on it. If they're not, then someone from HFI needs to get on here and explain why the survey has been ignored. The attached has details regarding the O55s comp in the Northern Suburbs Association... 90 minute games, played on Saturdays and 3 players aged 52-54 allowed. Get serious HFI and stop treating older guys in the Hills like a joke.

Playing Sunday might be due to the issue of field and referee availability on Saturday. From my experience this season both these were at capacity on Saturday games. The association probably doesn’t want another group complaining that there isn’t enough fields or referees available during Saturday for their games.

Sundays are fair enough due to referee availability - understandable.
But why 60-minute games when another association has 90-minute games for O55s?
And why are no underage players permitted to help with the transition in the first few years?
It's a token effort.

You know the more I think about it, the more I feel that O45s needs to grow a little bit more before O55s is introduced.
In my view, for O45s to be a solid comp it needs to have at least 3 divisions of 8-10 teams, i.e. 24-30 teams as a core, season after season.
In 2023 there were 27 x O45 teams. Even if O55s is a 6-team comp, you would still need an additional 3 x O45 teams just to make 3 x 8-team O45 divisions. Otherwise, there'll be 6 team divisions in O45s as well.
O55s is a great idea, but maybe a season or 2 too early, best to wait until there are over 32 teams in O45s, which can later be split into O45 x 3 (8-team) divisions and an 8-team O55/1s.

And the longer you wait the more players will leave. Once you hit 60 it gets hard to chase a 45 year old. Ask Hills how many players are over 60? about 70, do you want to lose them. I'm 70 and I don't want to stop playing, just got back from the O/70 world Cup, 12 games in 2 weeks. I don't want to play O/45, I want to play against players more my age.

Baulko kid - completely agree. Similar situation in the ladies comp. Hills started off running a O35 comp, then reduced it to O30 to run along FNSW lines. Trouble is ladies over 50, many who play for the fun, fitness and friendship have stopped playing. Playing against ladies old enough to be their daughters in some instances, is taking the fun out of the game. You’d be surprised how many ladies may register if there was an O45 or O50 comp available. Hills say they are promoting ladies football, really? Not all are ultra competitive and going to be part of the next world cup.
