Hi to the 2023 season, the Pan Pacific Masters is over with 12 or more Hills players playing. Clubs represented Baulko, CH Rockets, Norwest, North Rocks, Kellyville and RH Rams, maybe others? Gold for the O/65 Camden Hasbeens with 6 Hills players Joe Lenehan, Joe Delima, Keith Pierce (Baulko) William Lui (Rockets), Peter Willis (Rams) and Denis Suleiman (Norwest)
Silver for Danny DiLorento (Baulko) O/55 Mens Bronze for Steve Wilson (North Rocks) O/55 Mens All would have played for the Hillsbillies but we did not get enough players for a team in the O/60. We had 8 players withdraw prier to the games with injuries and work.
Gold for Gill Green (Baulko) O/45 Ladies. Sorry if I have missed any others but it was a fantastic week of football. In 2023 there are many Masters tournament oversees look at the OASIS website:- oasismf60.com.au The next big masters in Aust is the Australian Masters Games in Adelaide October. Also the Pan Pacific will be on again in November on the Gold Coast. Maybe the Hills will back the Hillsbillies to get teams to these tournaments?

Just heard that GHFA are looking at creating an O55 comp for 2023. This will be 11 V 11, 80 minutes per game to be played on Sundays.

Best solution is a combined Hills and North West Sydney comp so more teams can play. and as it grows then have one combined first div and each area has a second div. But this is to sensible so it will not happen.

If this was to happen who would be the association that oversees it, NWSF who currently don’t have a CEO because the NWSF Board see the position as a glorified office worker or HFI.

Jeremy Toivonen is general manager and is helping to push for older players jetting a game.

2 weeks ago Hills was given this info to put on their website and Facebook, nothing has happened. I noticed on Facebook a lot of club execs got awards and pats on the back at the Hills gala dinner night. But we mere players get no recognition for doing the Hills proud at the biggest Masters games in Australia. And the Clubs are no better not one club has recognised their players for achieving winning medals. 6 Hills players in the O/65 champion team. Gill Green a 60yo got a gold in the O/45 ladies and a couple of other players. Do Hills care? I don't think so!!!

So dose Hills back this and keep the players as Hills players or do the players/teams leave and play for NWSFA clubs?

Each person plays the game for their own reasons but our team plays for mateship, some fitness and some sherbets after each match and don't take things to serious. About a quarter of our team could play in an O55 comp but majority are to young and highly doubt our team would split up just for a new comp. I reckon most other teams would also be in the same boat.
I have heard through our club comms that there may be a modified competition for O55 Men and for O45 Women for winter 2023 which would be a separate mid week competition played similar to summer football but on a half field and less players and shorter game time. That has gained interest from some of our players and would be good training for our O45 matches.
Again, each to their own!

Good luck Baulkokid. Hopefully HFI let you, and other interested teams, play in the NWSFA O55 weekend comp via HFI Clubs. As long as egos and politics don’t get in the way. Will be interesting to see how many O55 teams sign up for HFI’s midweek comp vs NWSFA’s weekend comp.

Would be good if the Hills O/55 8 a side Wednesday night comp goes ahead as well, treat it like a training night and play 11 v 11 Saturday/Sunday. I started the Hillsbillies and OASIS Masters Football ASS for one reason to expand more football playing options for older player. I just wish more people would look at it the same way and not self sented ideas, it's for the good of football.

All clubs in NWSFA have been adivsed that this comp will go ahead, they have been told to allow registration for the O55 comp. At this stage, I don't know how many teams will nominate for the O55 comp. We won't know until nominations are sent in February.
