There is another club with no teams but they didn't make the cut to be a founding member of HFI. That club is Association Football Club Box Hill. Known as The Pioneers. The reason for not making it was the fact there were no fields to start playing from at the time and so the Football NSW board recommended that when they do find fields, that it would be good if they did become part of HFI. There is a club, but no teams just like SNW. An enquiry was made to see about starting out at the new ground in Beaumont Hills but of course, Kellyville United have that secured for 2019 I believes. The club has grand plans to be similar to the Rams in that they will run multi-sports. In addition, the club is hopeful of creating a new registered sports club in the Box Hill area, as it develops, as a supporter of the teams and sporting codes involved. Hopefully with full beverage licence as well for the teams to return to at the end of their matches. My memory is not very good but wasn't the founder of this club against Sydney Hills Assoc. when it originally formed and wanted to stake a claim for fields to protect GDSFA representation in the Hills area? If this is true, people quickly forget who were venomously against Sydney Hills breaking away from GDSFA and how they went above and beyond to sabotage the formation of a new association in the Hills.

mj, I spoke to the founder of AFC Box Hill and to quote: "No, no no, I was not against sanctioned football in the hills, what happened was SHFA was rolling over into their 2nd year of unsanctioned football. Football NSW presented a great opportunity to join a new league and SHFA clubs were not going to be a part of it. I was totally against unsanctioned football and not being part of the football family, unity was key. Clubs ad players were missing out on state cups, champion of champions and other benefits. There was no staking of claims for the old association. If you go and look at the constitution for the new club, it specifically requires not one, but 2 general meetings of members if it is ever going to play in unsanctioned football. That is how important sanctioned football was for the founding of the club."
Enough of the hijacking of this thread away from the Premier League I suppose

I've heard one of the coaches for the Rams Premier League squad is fantastic. Very passionate. They might well be a force to reckon with joining forces with SNW this year and bringing up some young players from the Rams club

Given kolts had 2 teams in the final for the top AAM div (1st and 3rd) any chance we could see 2 kolts PL squads fielded this year? What’s the latest with Coptic too btw? There are fors and againsts for having two teams from the same club. What do we forumites think about having the same club put two teams forward. On one hand it seems to me there should be a salary cap sort of system restricting the club to one team only in the Premier league. The other says who cares, let it happen

It is really disappointing that the Premier League competition went from 17 or 18 squads in 2017 across two divisions being PL1 and PL2, to only one division last year and now it appears from this thread the competition is now down to only 8 squads.
Scrapping PL2 for 2018 was a major mistake in my opinion which provided the foundation for teams to progress from AAM 1 to PL.
And not to mention two clubs that are now no longer.

Everything has just fallen apart since you left the throne CHUGZ!
There is a second division. It’s the youth premier league that is the feeder into the first division.

Everything has just fallen apart since you left the throne CHUGZ! There is a second division. It’s the youth premier league that is the feeder into the first division. In what way is it a second division? Its an U21 comp that doesn't follow the squad format of firsts and reserves. What happens when a team comes first and gets 'promoted' to PL, where do they find the other 16 or so players to make a squad? Not having a go at you personally - just echoing the sentiments from CHUGAR re: PL2 being axed. If anything it should be seen as a supplement to PL1 rather than a second division. If our assoc doesn't have the numbers for 2 PL comps (as has been the argument for axing PL2) then PYL should be set up so that it adds to the current PL environment (e.g. scheduling the PYL games at the same ground as the PL team and having kick off before the reserves game).

LOL what makes “PYL” any different from an u21s div 1, other than a fancy name? Those players are more likely to end up in AAM1 anyway and stick together as a team.
Which makes you wonder - is the squad format for PL outdated now? Or should there be mandated youth numbers in PL (surely the point of reserves is for a few old heads to help young ‘uns improve and get into 1st grade).
All this team naming seems daft when most “AAM3” (note top div men’s) would beat PYL or PL res teams.

In other news, seeing as though the Hills Allstars concedes double digits against Hills United, there really should be another way of selecting an “All Star” team. Majority of the standout players throughout the first grade comp not even being selected in favour of reserve players just shows how disjointed the team really is. Although it’s for a great cause, and there’s no doubt about that, it puts quite a bad image in the actual standard of the league. Let’s be real, if it was an actual Allstars team then it would be just a selected team of Kolts and Kenthurst players anyways, maybe one or two Winston hills first team players but that’s pretty much about it
Thoughts?

Whilst the event is a great initiative, no one expects a park football team to be competitive against an NPL team but in my opinion I would think the most logical team to be selected would be the previous season's premiership winning 1st grade Premier League team. That would provide another reward for winning a Comp and also provide the strongest team based on results with the best opportunity for providing a more competitive match towards a great cause, whatever charity is picked each year.

Certainly is a great initiative to play the match and get the season kicking along. Some tweaking to the way the team gets selected might be on the cards.
It would be good to keep a cross section of all clubs playing to keep up the numbers turning up to watch, there was a great crowd there last night that was certain. My two cents for 2020, play the mixed club team against the U20's NPL side, and then bring on the big match with the League Winners from the season before playing against the 1st grade side.

This old bloke went down to watch the premier league games on saturday and from what I saw the standard this year is quite poor across the board. KK are a standout in both grades and dare I say all age 1 is stronger and more competitive than the bottom half of first grade..........
