Well here we go again, same same, but different different!
Winston Hills v Kellyville Utd
KU are $1.50 fav's for title if the recruitment whispers are true, they've refreshed the squad to plague proportions including the entire Blacktown City 2000 Premiership Team. Still they'd also be $1.50 to not finish the comp either fully or with a full squad on recent history. Has one of the central defensive unit moved to the older age group as one of the younger age allowed players, surely not! If they can get the full team there and are focussed on playing football, can be expected to be winning most games, although the midfield could do with some fresh younger legs (like most teams).
Winsto should be a much better squad this year having again if rumours are true casting aside some deadwood at the bookends of the pitch with the fat old bloke at the back finally being given his marching orders along with the fat undersized strikers at the front. Fresh young legs in the midfield may finally have them a legitimate contender but very prone to leaking goals and not being able to score.
5 -2 KU
Baulko Blue v Rouse Hill Rams
Which Baulko is this? Doesn't really matter as on the postage stamp they'll simply stifle the midfield/defence and hope to pinch one from a setpiece or mini-corner/throw in.
Rouse Hill - rumours again that they were/are close to landing the Lynchinator pending a medical on his dodgy right knee. Biggest issue for Toonie will be getting the numbers each week, when they do can compete with most teams and no doubt will focus on usual physical approach to unsettling the opposition.
1-1 draw.
Castle Hill v Glenhaven
Surely the Castle Hill Team from last year have all moved to 45's, if not old enough they certainly look it. Will certainly provide a good gauge on newly promoted Glenhaven to this level and historically the gulf is generally too far a bridge to jump, although Dad's Army from Norwest did buck the trend in more recent times.
goals, goals, goals aplenty here for the only regulation kick off game..
3 - 3 draw. Baulko Red v Norwest
Grand Final replay? or wrong Baulko Team, if the GF Team then they traditionally have an influx of aged Prem's join this squad and offload the surplus squad members. Had jumped away to impressive season across all comp's mid way through the comp but took its toll and in the end fell over the line in GF. Playing on postage stamp refer above and they'll be in the mix but can they defend?
Norwest provided nearly the fairytale finish to last year but came up short in the last quarter of GF after looking the winners. Dad's Army can certainly do with some fresh young legs to support the attacking talent they possess,, especially dangerous at converting the dead ball chances. Night game will likely cause issues with their vision and despite being on the smaller pitch expect to start off with a loss.
3 - 0 Baulko.

Round 1: Baulko Red 5 Norwest 2 Baulko Blue 0 Rams 2 Winston Hills 1 KV 1 Castle Hill 3 Glenhaven 3
35-1’s Minor Premiership Market:
Rouse Hill Rams 4-1 The real deal this year, have strengthened and will be hungry after the double whammy of semi final losses last year failing to make the GF. Arguably the best keeper in the division
Baulko Blue 6-1 Complacency could catch them out early on depends if they have strengthened their roster most likely yes, less success in the State Cup this year could assist their regular competition chances
Norwest 8-1 Always have a late season run will be there once again but do need some fresh talent coming through, particularly goal scoring wise. Best kit in the league although very tight fitting shirts lads
Baulko Red 10-1 No surprise to see them come out of the blocks strongly but will they be able to sustain positive results throughout the season, time will tell but doubtful
Winston Hills 12-1 Disappointing last year and definitely need to break the bank and sign up a goal scoring striker, difficult to play at their home ground
Others - Market TBA

Foxtel have had some great highlights from the Baulko Games. I assume that Baulko have sold the telecast rights so that they can get a synthetic field at the location ... time will tell.
As Cuptied has already said Baulko Blue (last years Division winners) have gone down 2-0 to the Rampaging Rams. The Rams had the better possession and could have put at least 2 or 3 more in the back of the net but I guess that since it is the 1st game of the season their accuracy was wanting. While Baulko lacked the touch, timing and teamwork from prior years. Guess that the holiday break was not kind to them.
As for the new kids on the block at Baulko they have stormed out of the blocks. Norwest are a team to beat and deserve a top 4 prediction. Now back to the game .... Norwest came out out of the blocks fast and rattled the Baulko team a bit…I guess being a new team they were still finding their feet and their rhythm. Pressure on the keeper forced a few good saves by the Baulko keeper before the game settled down and plenty of goals scored including a superb solo effort from a Baulko player from the half way line beating at least 5 players before slotting past the Norwest keeper.
1-1 at half time was a fair result before the avalanche of goals in the second half. Both teams played well and a majority of the game was played in good spirits …
note to all players - Do not talk back to the Ref … they are the ones with the yellow and red cards in their pockets and are not afraid to use them.
Baulko came back well to slot in 4 second half goals with the last few through a tired defence. Do not write Norwest off. They are a good team and will only get better as the season. Based on prior year results they start off slow but through training and games get their mojo back. As for Baulko … game one went well for them. Lets see if they can back up next week.
Thats it from Foxtel (Hills Coverage) wishing all a great season.

[/quote] Norwest .... Even though Norwest lost I think that they have a chance of making the final Baulko Red ... For a new team they seem like they know what they are doing so I can see them in the final. Rams.... really. Do you know something that the rest of us do not? Do you play for them? I heard that the Winsto Striker had to pull the pin this year so your 12-1 odds might need to go out a bit more. As for the rest ....never count out the old faithful Baulko Blues. They will pull out all stops to win the Prem again. Castle Hill ... Retirement Village. Glenhaven - Rich Farmers Kellyville - Not so rich Farmers

So here we go again with KV .... another season of injuries, suspensions and it’s basically a 7 team comp with forfeits every few weeks if they last the season this time. Or am I wrong?
