Socceroos outclassed by France. A convincing win 4-1 to the Bleus. Not looking good for the Socceroos to progress beyond the group stage. Sacre bleu. ⚽️🇨🇵 Yep, definitely chasing shadows. France= The Penthouse Socceroos= The Outhouse One consolation was our goal was very good and the finish excellent as the ball was bouncing around a bit on it’s way to Goodwin.

Is the door still slightly ajar for the Socceroos to progress further now that Denmark & Tunisia have played out a 0-0 draw ?

They both looked ordinary and nowhere as good as France so here's hoping.

The Socceroos are ordinary at best and ordinary going forward into the future. Only an Act of God will change things. Australia have overachieved just by scoring a goal. They were never going to get out of the group stage and the only way they would is if the opposition were visually impaired. When it’s over there’ll be an invite only think tank discussion amongst delusional has beens to change things and develop us into a super power of world football. Same rubbish. Different year.

I can't argue with your last post Raymond. What you have said is reflective of being a true realist.
However, passionate fans of sporting teams often are swayed by the heart more so than by the head. Always trying to be optimistic & upbeat regardless of the circumstances.
If you admit that your team doesn't stand a chance then that takes much of the interest out of any further involvement by yourself in the tournament.
I would prefer to watch a match thinking that my team has some chance, (even if very remote), than watching a match thinking my team has no chance.
Even if they lose taking the positives out of the game. Like the great goal scored against France where we played well for the first part of the game.
You have to ask yourself why fans of teams at the bottom of the table still turn up week after week to watch their team get beaten.

The worst judge of a young player are their parents, just like the worst judge of the chances of a racehorse is the owner/s. Being realistic doesn’t cloud one’s judgement.

Well there's the difference Raymond. I am not a punter.....but I wouldn't bet on that.

Goodbye Qatar. The host nation crashes out in humiliating style after being beaten convincingly by Senegal 3-1. They have certainly spent a lot of money with very little to show for it on the field.

By hosting the World Cup Qatar gained automatic entry into the tournament. Does anyone think that we will see Qatar in future World Cup tournaments based on their current performance ? 🤔

If my memory serves me correctly Australia wasted upwards of $42m on their own bid which got them 1 vote. No bang for your buck there. With Qatar they won’t be seen again until they host once more, which I doubt that happening.

Australia wins their first World Cup match since 2010. The 1-0 win against Tunisia keeps their hopes alive of achieving a top two finish in Group D. They may still be able to progress to the next stage of the tournament.

If France defeat Denmark tomorrow that would leave Australia on 3 points & Denmark on one point. This means that Australia would only need to draw their match against Denmark to finish ahead of them. If France & Denmark draw their match tomorrow then that would still leave Australia on 3 points & Denmark on 2 points. The same scenario would apply in that Australia would still only need to draw their match against Denmark to finish ahead of them. It is highly unlikely that Tunisia would defeat France in their final group match so would probably end up on one point at the end of the group matches. If I was a punter the odds seemed to have moved a bit more in Australia's favour.

Further good news for the Socceroos with France defeating Denmark 2-1. The Socceroos destiny is now in their own hands with a draw against Denmark securing second place in Group D.

Another major upset with World No 2 Belgium going down 2-0 to Morroco & now in danger of not progressing beyond the group stage.
