With the FIFA World Cup just around the corner how will Australia perform this time ?
GROUP D France. World Ranking (4). Denmark. World Ranking (10). Tunisia. World Ranking (30). Australia. World Ranking (38).
Can Australia progress beyond the group stage ? Australia's World Ranking is the lowest of the four terms comprising Group D.
Any thoughts on the Socceroos prospects ?

The Socceroos first game is against France on Wednesday, 23rd November, at 6:00am. What are their chances of causing an upset against the previous World Cup Champions ?
Factors working in favour of the Socceroos regarding France: (1) France are often slow starters in their first World Cup game & have lost to lesser ranked teams before. (2) France have a number of injury concerns to key players coming into the World Cup. (3) France's recent form has been poor. Winning only one of six matches from their UEFA Nations League campaign.
Maybe all is not bad as it might seem.

France striker Karim Benzema has been ruled out of the World Cup after suffering an injury to his left thigh during training on Saturday in Doha, the French federation have confirmed. The MRI scan has revealed a muscle tear that will require at least three weeks to heal. Bad news for France, good news for the Socceroos.

The injury to Karim Benzema creates another selection headache for French coach Deschamps, who is already without RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, goalkeeper Mike Maignan of AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, Aston Villa duo Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara, and star midfielders Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante from injury.

Under FIFA rules, Deschamps will have up until 24 hours before the Socceroos clash to choose an injury replacement for Benzema, while Graham Arnold is also set to make a difficult eleventh-hour call on whether Martin Boyle remains in the Socceroos' 26-man squad ahead of potential replacement Marco Tillio, amid fitness concerns.

Yes have watched it all and most things I already had heard about, anyone who says sports players should not bring politics into sport are crazy, as all big sporting organisations involve them selves in all sorts of politics, whether it is with politicians, country politics or within their own organisation. Football World Cup and Olympic Games should speak out about injustices in countries. FIFA did nothing wrong according to their rules. Qatar did nothing wrong according to their cultural rules. To the rest of the world it was all illegal and wrong so they should suffer.

So how did the first day of the World Cup go in Qatar ?
Fans Perspective
There were chaotic scenes on opening night of the World Cup in Qatar as crowds tried to enter a fan zone in central Doha, with riot police called in to try and keep things under control.
The messages they were getting from inside included, “it’s a riot,” “complete disaster,” “so disorganised,” “comical” and “we won’t be coming back here”.
Football Perspective
Socceroos great Craig Foster has led an avalanche of criticism of Qatar after the host nation’s humiliating flop in the World Cup opener on Monday morning.
Qatar became the first host nation to ever lose their opening game at their own World Cup — and it was the manner of the defeat that has caused such a scathing reaction from football commentators around the globe.
A crowd of 67,372 packed into the impressive Al Bayt Stadium, but the home fans staged a walkout in the second half as their team struggled on the pitch. Qatar coach Felix Sanchez even apologised to the country for the poor performance.
Sponsors Perspective
Qatar’s beer ban could cost FIFA a staggering A$70 million with Budweiser prepared to play hardball. The American beer company is one of the World Cup’s official sponsors and were set to provide the booze in stadiums and fan zones in Qatar.
However, football fans attending the tournament will have a dry World Cup after authorities performed a stunning U-turn on alcohol this week. FIFA chiefs bowed to pressure from the Qatari authorities and confirmed they would not be selling alcohol at any stadiums.
It’s bad news for official beer sponsor Budweiser, which is now looking for compensation following the shock U-turn.
Probably not the start the organisers were looking for.

European countries scrap 'one love' plan on back of warnings
The captains of seven European nations will not wear anti-discrimination armbands in World Cup games after threats from FIFA to show yellow cards to the players.

Saudi Arabia stun heavyweights Argentina with a 2-1 victory. The first major upset of this World Cup tournament. Maybe Australia can pull off a minor miracle with a victory over France.

Socceroos outclassed by France. A convincing win 4-1 to the Bleus. Not looking good for the Socceroos to progress beyond the group stage. Sacre bleu. ⚽️🇨🇵
