What a joke this is............
As you’re all aware, the weekend of Round 16 (22rd – 24th July) was cancelled as more than 75% of fields were closed.
Conscious that we’ve had 2 shortened COVID-19 affected seasons, we wish to provide more football playing opportunities for non-competitive and youth/senior competitions across our Association. Because of this, Hills Football has made the decision to reschedule this round to the week of finals, this being the weekend of 19th – 21st August.
With this being said, the next few weeks will run as follows:
Round 18 5th – 7th August
Round 14 12th – 14th August
Round 16 19th – 21st August
Grand Finals (1 v 2) 26th – 28th August
All changes mentioned in this email will be made within DRIBL. Please advise your members of this.

What if it rains and a round is cancelled - does that mean the grand final is cancelled to play that round ? What a joke

top teams who play bottom teams whats the point, forfeits may just happen more and if you sitting 3-5th that may be a battle in itself to get to the semis, some comps 1st,2nd are too far ahead - and yes good on them but teams go through slumps and form and players out etc Some teams make late runs but as others have said, whats the point now? Yes we play for fun but 99.9% still want to win and compete

So the season has moved from 6 team finals, to 4 team finals, to now 2 team finals.
My boys team has been on the cusp of Top 4 all season and we are just now getting players back from injuries and starting to find form. Minor premiership was wrapped up a long time ago in our comp and we will be at long odds to get second. The boys will fight to the end but gee it could be a real demotivator for some.

from July 25...
Dear BDSFA Club Presidents & Secretaries, Due to last weekend’s matches being completely washed out, it is now time to act to complete the season and ensure 18 rounds, Semi-Finals and Finals are played. The BDSFA have decided to move the entire competition back a week (this includes this week’s mid-week fixtures – with the exception of 2 matches). By moving everything back a week it still means at this stage we can play 18 Rounds of Football, a full Semi-Finals Series and both Grand Final weekend’s. If there are further wash outs, the possibility of cancelling Rounds or Semi-Final rounds will obviously have to be investigated. As you would be aware, the Plan of Management requires Competitions of different compositions to play a minimum number of Rounds. With a week of rest, the fields should be able to be used to their capacity over the next two (2) weeks to allow those minimums to be reached. The BDSFA will be scheduling double headers and nights for two (2) weeks from Friday, 29 July, so we ensure that all teams play their minimum number of games pursuant to the Plan of Management.
Why cant HFA do this?

Heard teams will be FF and also many teams are moving out from Hills - this may drive more out next season...

May be all moot anyway, wet weather apparently returning around 18 August and if so even GFs will be washed out

And then the rain came again..................
What about teams out of contention, who have players organised to go away because they couldn't make semis - lots forfeits to come. Hardly fair on those teams that are fighting for top two spots now, especially if one gets an automatic forfeit or to play against a weakened team.
If we hadn't had COVID affected seasons, would Hills have made the same decision - I think not!!

What about Round 13 ? No mention of that, may as well play that as well and have no grand final.

HFI you are destroying the hopes and discarding the season efforts of footballers across the district. Please be smart enough to read the room and reverse a poor decision.
