Unfortunately we will have to wait until the powers that be get to a collective view that we are ok to proceed, it’s not perfect, but really, speculation is pointless, higher levels will determine what happens going forward regardless of what we all think.

This is going to get worst before it gets any better the likelihood of this improving within a month is slim to none I’ll bet the entire season is cancelled

Things are changing everyday. Some places are getting worst and many others are improving every day. Lets not get ahead of ourselves and claim to be experts. Everyone agrees April is unlikely but May start can only be judged in 3-4 weeks time when the real experts know more.

I know for a fact that at least some of the HFI Clubs have not paid anything to the Association at this stage & are monitoring the situation before making a final decision. I think their allegiances lie with their members first & foremost.

This situation regarding registration fees raises a number of serious questions. Are the clubs' duty & first priority to their members or to the Association ? Assuming the competition this year doesn't get off the ground....which is highly likely.......should they refund members totally at the expense of supporting the Association ? Should they pay the Association part of their fees & do a partial refund to members ? What happens to the $100 received by clubs from the NSW Governments Active Kid's Voucher ? There are lots of questions to be answered. What are the thoughts of Forum Members ?

This needs to firstly come down from the top with FNSW and FFA refunding or cancelling any fees for the season. Association is caught in a difficult situation with high wages still needing to be paid Players i would imagine would want refunds if the season does not get off the ground - beyond this you also have issues of sponsors who have paid for the season. If not handled correctly we will see drop in players and sponsors in 2021

Sounds like the current isolation provisions are expected to be in place for 6 months based on scomos press conference this evening.
Personally, I would like to receive my refund now so I can redirect it to other resources to help keep myself fit over the next 6 months.
Let’s hope those discussions are happening now and we can start getting cash back to ppl ASAP. If we do get a limited season off the ground, players can be recharged at that point.

And the FAQ which is linked to this web article clearly articulates that all costs incurred will need to be considered and recouped. Oh dear!

Has there been any plans released by HFI on what measures are being taken to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on the viability of the association? I would have thought that they would be reducing costs and/or proactively managing staffing but haven’t heard anything.

Simple solution: Hand back all fees to players who have not received any service/product this year. Put staff on temporary leave to access govt handout to minimise costs. (Noted this has been announced) Renegotiate any other costs (eg with landlords) given current situation - asset holders need to expect losses in this environment. Perform a fundraiser AFTER this has all ended (which outlines exactly what costs couldn’t be absorbed and where the money will go).
Anything less than full transparency here should result in full clean out of the bureaucratic nightmare which is FNSW and FFA. Perhaps this is the broom we needed all along.
If that trust is broken with the grassroots football community you can expect that the flow of funds will be disastrous in future years (players will wait until last minute to rego, clubs will delay payment up the chain etc).
Given the 90 day official lockdown by NSW police, assuming a miracle containment of this crisis, the earliest we can get back out on the pitch looks to be 1 July.

They announced today the social distancing measures are going to be in place for the next 90 days does this mean the season will start in early July or is it even worth having a season?
