In 2018 the Forum was at its peak. There were 93 threads created that year & 2,615 posts. Since then there has been a gradual decline of involvement by members in the Forum. So much so that this year there were only 17 threads created, (before this one), and only 563 posts made. There are now less than 20% of threads being created compared to 2018 & slightly more than 20% of the number of posts being made compared to 2018.
If this rate continues the Forum will be virtually defunct in the next few years.
What does the future hold for the Forum ?
Is it now viewed as less valuable than it was five years ago ?
Have other means of communication within the hills football community made the Forum less relevant ?
Do the current Forum members want to see the site go the way of other forums which no longer exist ?
What are the views of Forum members & is the Forum worth resuscitating ?

Hey Lazarus... From my POV I hope it still has a future - do we simply need to let more people know that it exists? The old compman used to take forever to get scores loaded, sometimes into Tue and Wed - so the forum was a way of getting match reports and scores ahead of time... less relevant now with Dribl... most scores appear as soon as games are done, others a bit longer for some reason but mostly done by Sun night. Before next season i'll be letting as many people as possible know about the forum's existence and I'd encourage everyone else to do the same... its a great way to feel part of a footballing community - albeit semi-anonymously

I am wondering the same thing. Personally my time has come and I will be handing over the keys and leftover oil. Ftown could do with a second moderator, not because he is overwhelmed, but because it is sensible to have 2 mods just in case one is unable to attend to the duties. Please let us know because I will be finishing as soon as I have shown him how to set up for next year.

Thanks Oake - I don’t want to fly solo with these loose units - lol
Pretty easy gig - common sense heavy though

Oake deserves a huge amount of gratitude from Forum members for not only setting up the forum in the first place but for ensuring that it functioned professionally & for the benefit of all concerned. Well done mate. You should be proud of your efforts. Best of luck for the future. Your words of wisdom will be sorely missed.

Mods are a bit like unpaid refs, bit of a thankless job but without them we are screwed. Big thx from me for keeping us all in check.
I’d be curious what the viewer numbers are? While I was at the fiddler the other week, medal around my neck, the amount of random ppl who asked what team we’re from and if we’re on the forum was crazy. I thought to myself what’s going on? My only theory is the onlyfans culture has crept into our football community - ppl love to watch from the sidelines but are a bit too nervous to jump in bed with the stars. I promise, we won’t bite.
Also the premier league thread was always the main draw card (big personalities, great conflict), but that thread is on the same trajectory as the comp itself. Not sure what can be done to save both, but it’s vital ppl are playing, supporting and TALKING about the highest amateur level our hills community can provide.

Cuda; Association needs to act now or the Premier league might be a dinosaur in 2024
