Changes to Hills Bylaws covered at referee seminar for 2023 8.1.17No jewellery is permitted to be worn. Flat wedding bands may be worn.Section on Flat wedding bands has been removed. Change to bylaw is required as IFAB and Football Australia do not permit modification to the 'No Jewellery' rule. If a referee notices a player with a wedding band, they can request the player to leave the field of play until the wedding band is removed. 8.10.4 New BylawWhere Assistant Referee/s are not in attendance for a junior competition match, each team shall provide a volunteer AR to assist the centre referee. Under this scenario, the volunteer AR’s role is limited to call balls in and out crossing the side-line and providing support to the centre referee with the centre referee always having ultimate authority over all decisions.Applies for U12 through U17. Information provided at the seminar was the volunteer AR must be over 18. More information will be provided to the referees before the season kicks off.

If you have a band-aid or electrical tape around your finger a referee can not ask you to remove it to see if you have a wedding ring on so you know what you have to do. If you walk on the field with a ring visible you will be asked to leave the field to remove it and when you come back on with a tape around your finger it's because you damaged your finger getting it off. Not because the ring is under the tape.
