It seems Hills mean business with the womens and girls leap into rep football for the 2022 season as a war chest of around $100k has been budgeted to make a sit up and take notice start to the competition.
As many as 19 senior players from Nepean have made the switch as well to follow their coach.

So, bad luck for the local Hills girls they have supposedly developed over the years. Make way for the girls from Nepean to take your spot. That goes for local coaches as well who have been turfed out. Development with a capital $.

With so much weight being placed on 1st Grade from a club championship perspective can someone who is smarter than me explain the rationale behind this as the words “club championship” surely imply all perimeters of a club to contribute to that title of club champions and not just the overpaid cattle masquerading as 1st grade players.
A sport administered by people with no idea at all.

The system is out of whack. Clubs get promoted to WPL1 by saving for a couple of years and then splurging on W-League players to come in and win WNPL2 first grade for them. They then can charge the juniors more money (as it's PL1) and hopefully afford to keep paying enough quality players so that they don't come last and get relegated.
Can you notice I haven't mentioned anything about developing juniors and especially developing local juniors. In fact, the promotion to PL1 virtually ensures up and coming locals will have no chance of getting in any of the junior teams.
If Hills United is selling this as a pathway for local players then they are being misleading. I hope no Association funding is going towards this.
Regarding the club championship, the competition points are added with the following weightings:
4 x first grade 1 x U20s 0 x U16 0 x U15 0 x U14
Hence the issue with clubs seeing juniors as cash cows rather than as players to be developed.

Ange,
Thank you for that.
Weighting competitions by this sort of means clearly shows the lack of value (other than $$$) any team other than 1st grade is worth.
It is not only morally and ethically wrong, but clearly demonstrates those in charge, being FNSW of structuring a competition wouldn’t know their head from their backside.

2022 will be a long season for the women/girls rep teams with their competitions starting on the 20th February.
Personally, I can’t recall ever starting this early before.

Male and Female competitions are being extended in line with the recommendations put forward by Football Australia being to increase the amount of football being played for representative football which will be adopted around the country in time.
I also have a mate of mine who's daughter has been selected for the Hills United senior women's side. She did play for Nepean however has always lived in the Hills District, played her junior football in the Hills District but had to leave and play out of area because up until now, the Hills did not have a girls or womens NPL program. She is now one very happy young lady.

A month or so ago Hills United were chasing a player from a rival club not too far away and part of the player contract offer was a condition that her father not attend games or training, mind you the player was still under 18 years of age.
The player didn’t want her father signing this unreasonable condition and eventually the need for the club to sign her outweigh the lockout of the father.
In any case that condition of registration was never going to get to first base if Hills United wanted to go on with it.

In 2023 there is a major shake up coming with the NPL top tier of Womens football.
With the extension of the W League season players who are playing W League will not become available until Round 13 I understand thus meaning most NPL clubs won’t be signing any W League players.
So basically what this means for 2023 is NPL clubs will need to find just over 90 new players to fill this void created.
Why this many?
It’s because there are around 93 players currently playing NPL football who also play W League.
I can only see the quality of NPL being diluted for 2023 and beyond.
The only news is FNSWI will possibly cease to exist in 2024 with Sydney FC coming in together with WSW.

I also like the addition of Raymond's middle name.
The current rule that was implemented for 2023 was for the top two League 1 clubs that finish first and second in the club championship to be promoted to NPL1 in 2023 to make 14 teams in both NPL1 and League 1 for next season.
At present on current 2022 form that is likely to be Hills United and Gladesville Ravens who have both led the competition since round 1.
That would be an amazing achievement for Hills United and be great for all female players within the Hills district.
Having Sydney FC and WSW join would also be good but one would think they would have to start in League 1, similarly to the WSW Mens League 1 who are currently pushing for promotion.
Or as usual, big brother may make changes again.
