Hi guys this is the survey Football NSW does not want to do, They know what older player want -"Walking Football" isn't it? Please fill it in so I can go the Football NSW & Football Australia & show them what the players actually want. I have created this small survey through Survey Monkey to be completed by all registered or ex players over the age of 50 years. I have attached the link for you players to fill in. I will let you know the results, the survey is anonymous both with names and IP addresses.
KEEP THEM PLAYING.

What about the ex players no longer registered that would sign up again for an over 6os of over 65s comp if it gets off the ground? Im 65 and would not want to participate in 'walking football" as a matter of interest.

The next competition that should be started is O55 or O60. It needs to be full 11 a side running football, otherwise you are just wasting your time.

Have changed the parameters to include all over 50. Over 60 could get government funding & 55 does not. It would have to be inter district and most Associations could field 2 teams. The survey is to show FFA & FNSW that players want 11 a side running full field. Or maybe I am wrong it might be 8 a side half field running or Walking Football. I have the Over 60 Hillsbillies team playing regular games and are going to Masters Games. Aust Masters in Perth October and Pan Pacific Master on Gold Coast in November. Hills will be doing a story on their web page & Facebook soon. we are looking for more players. So please do the survey.

Well it's been put out there every Hills club & border clubs have been emailed about the Hillsbillies to get more players. Also every Sydney & surrounds Associations have been asked to start up an Inter District Over 60 Comp, So here's hoping things get moving to keep older players playing in a comp that they want.

I think the horse has bolted on this one mate. If they really wanted it, they would join.
Unfortunately it’s a numbers game and the very few of you who do want to play already are.

morinyo, with not many looking at this forum or the Hills facebook the horse is still running. With Hills refusing to email requests for players for the Hillsbillies over 60 team & putting a notice out they do not sanction the team. It is obvious they don't care about older player & what they want, oh wait a minute "we are putting WALKING football on for you old guys" The survey was very clear :- 11 a-side full field running football 78%. 8 a-side 1/2 field running 16%. Walking football 6%. It's very clear what older players want so they can stay playing the game they love. When will Football Australia, Football NSW & the Associations ask what we want here in Australia not what the latest trends in England & Europe are. We are the only country in the world that has Over 35 & 45 comps as part of normal football, there are some countries that have private self run comps. Players here in Australia are getting older, many in their 60's & 70's & that's why we need an Over 60 comp.

I presume the lack of support from the Hills Association comes down to just a liability perspective, as an employer I shudder at the idea of being held responsible over the health and safety of 60+ year olds playing a full running soccer game.
My O35 team has 21 players registered and we played last weekend with 12 + a ringer and some of them were walking wounded. I would look at a reasonable estimate for injuries incurred by 60+ year olds over a season would be twice as many as suffered by O35 y/o so you would need a squad of 30 for each team.
European countries are embracing walking football because it mitigates both those killer issues, injuries reduced by walking rather than running (also speed of collissions etc) and squad numbers by halving (or more) the number of players needed for each team.
What Mr Morinyo was getting at was that it was a numbers game, being a supply and demand issue. The reason the O45s was created was because there were a large number of O45 players already playing in O35 - enough to generate a need to create a separate age division. There just don't appear to be enough O60 players currently registered in the Hills comp (or others?) creating that demand to break away.
From my club, off the top of my head I can think of less than a handful of O60 players still playing (really I can only think of 1 single player)
Someone else mentioned that you may be looking in the wrong place - if the players dont exist currently registered then there may very well be a large number of retired players that decided to hang up their boots due to not wanting to play against O45 y/os. You really need to somehow target these players - not the existing ones (exactly as Morinyo says - these guys are already playing and there aren't enough of them).
The clubs won't be interested in targeting players that were previously registered, they have their hands full with all the current registrations.
So outside of the box, instead of targeting existing clubs, maybe target:
* Local newspapers - Hills to Hawkesbury still does a print edition - Hills Shire Times etc only online * Hills District Mums / Dads facebook - Any other suggestions? I dont really use social media * Local radio / national radio? Hang round at the Castle Hill golf club during the week and you'll run into Ray Hadley * RSLs / Social clubs etc * As much as you might think I am poking fun (which I am not) - target the O55 living villages, theres heaps around the Hills

Baulkokid....what blahblah says makes a lot of sense. He has provided good constructive advice but hasn't criticised the issue in any way. I think this sort of feedback is very helpful for you to try & achieve your goals. Good Luck.

Thanks for the feed back, You talk of the injuries yes an O/60 playing O/35 or O/45 will have a greater chance of getting injured but if it was an O/60 comp it would be a lot slower a lot more fun. There are about 45 registered players over 60 in the Hills, Baulko has 16. Inter district each Association makes teams to play. If there was an over 60 comp players would not give up playing, there is over 150 players over 50 in the Hills. So by 60 they have to give up as its to hard playing 45's.Players would come back if we had O/60's. Mental & physical health keep playing, give up & dye of over weight & boredom.
