Does anyone know why the HFI comp tables ranking order changed last week just before round 18? They were following the same competition format as last year right up until last week. Did anyone else notice this?

Yes. Checked the By Laws and the order of finishing is
1. Points 2. Games won 3. Goal difference 4. Goals scored 5. Number of boundaries scored
Perhaps ICompman was not set up to show the correct order.

Harsh to not get the minor premiership having the same points but a better goal difference.
Do other associations put games won before goal difference ?

<Don't Shoot The Messenger> Apparently it is to counter act Team A smashing Team Z, Team Z is relegated after Rd4, Team B never plays Team Z, Team A and Team B finish level at end of season, so Team A's GD from smashing Team Z isn't included in calculations, just the win. I don't necessarily agree with it...

When a team gets regraded, any wins against a team that drops a division are changed from the original score (eg: 11-0 win) to a 3-0 win. So not sure that this is the reason and not shooting any messengers. Forfeits are another complication as a team can potentially have more wins by forfeit.
Compman most probably just uses the default of goal difference and I would guess this is what most associations use - hence my question. Timing can make a big difference and it is unlikely that most teams or coaches would have read the by-laws. So for most teams they only find out at the end of the competition and feel let down as most would assume it would be points and then goal difference.

In 13/1 this season three teams finished on level points at the top. Only found out about the table change on the Friday, but didn't tell the boys that a draw was good enough. At the end of the game (1-1), both teams were disappointed until my boys were told they had actually finished first.

Byes in a competition can also have an effect on GD. Extra byes in a 7 team comp gives some teams less chance to improve their goal difference, so maybe that is another reason for number of wins being more important.

Sweeper - I haven't found any other associations the same as HFI. From what I've found other associations follow FNSW and put goal difference before games won.

Macduff - interesting looking at the 13/1 comp the top 3 teams had the least number of Byes than the rest of the teams.

There must be a reason Hills have done it that way.

As long as the Association stays consistent from season kick off, until the end, its no big deal really. But it probably is something that should have been outlined to all clubs at the start of the season (if it wasn't already).
