The draw is live until Round 4. After the Round 4 regrade a further 4 weeks will be set live. The draw will then be set one week live each week to give the best possible chance of a "Home & Away" season.

So that means that parents will not be able to plan their football (and lives) weeks in advance. If they have kids playing football along with themselves playing a sport then this is not acceptable in my view. The full draw should be made available asap so that everyone knows where they will be playing until the last game.

Totally agree with you Dropbear. Clubs also need the draw for the season to plan their rosters for ground duties, canteens etc.

Can not agree more, other associations are putting out draws so that teams can organise players, parents organise where they need to be (especially when they more than one child playing) and it is overall common sense. I am not sure what the "home and away" issue is?

Dropbear on the money once again. Best chance of a “Home and Away” season. Parents just want to know where their “Sons and Daughters” are playing so they don’t have to get their “Neighbours” to help out!!

Dropbear.......don't shoot me I am just the messenger.......I am merely sharing information for the forum members benefit. I do not make these decisions but merely let members be aware of what is happening. Furthermore, my understanding is that four weeks of games will be set after the Round 4 regrade ie, a months worth of games in advance, then every week there after another week will be added so that you will always have four weeks of games in advance. This gives clubs ample time to organise grounds duty, canteen duty, etc & as for parents they will also have a months notice. Parents know that their kids are playing every Saturday regardless of who & where they are playing & if they have a bye they should still know four weeks in advance. It would be nice in a perfect world to have ample fields available so that creating a fair & equitable draw was an easy & simple task, but that is not the current situation that is faced by HFI with a shortage of fields available to them to accommodate over 12,000 players. I think that a bit of empathy & understanding is required by yourself & others by putting yourself in their shoes (or football boots) regarding the sharing of scarce resources for the benefit of all. I personally think that a month is sufficient notice to fill in the details for something that every knows is going to happen anyway.

If every Club only registered the maximum number of players for the number of fields they had, then everybody would have home games. My understanding is 2-3 Clubs over registered... and all the other Clubs then cop the fall out.

We are pretty spoilt with Football draws, Rugby League draws only come out on a Tuesday prior to the Saturday game, with no draw for future games and times at all, having 4 weeks in advance is a bonus in my eyes and in past years we have had the full draw come out after the regrades.

Hills Council have created two soccer fields with posts on main arena at Castle Hill Showground. Anyone know if these are to be used by HFI.

Makes sense why we will never see a full draw, however this is still not ideal and disadvantages those people who need to plan family events, work shift work or sole traders who can’t change times on whim (given matches could have a 5hr difference one week from the other)
Seems this is a solution for the symptom rather than the problem.
Given most of the country’s population growth is set to entrench itself in western Sydney, this problem will only get worse every year. Are councils prepared for this? Is the association? Will there be caps on total players given limited fields already, and who will miss out? When this gets harder to manage should we expect 4 week match foresight will drop to 3, 2, then 1 week in advance?

I think the problem is FNSW and FFA and how much they are helping grass root clubs develop and win over fields.. AFL are spending big on setting up fields or taking over fields (AKA Russell Reserve) and council are giving them priority. I agree cuda, all that will happen is that draws will be more difficult (and i appreciate the difficulty HFA have) and clubs will no longer be able to grow in the catchment although there will be more families and more people wanting to play so end result = they will go to other sports.

The Hills Shire's plans in developing new playing fields & rolling them out for use by HFI hit a major snag when the NSW Government in its infinite wisdom undertook its much disliked amalgamation, boundary changes, etc to Local Government Areas.
This has effectively reduced significantly the Hills Shire"s income stream due to the loss of long established & consolidated areas such as Carlingford, North Rocks, Winston Hills, etc which provided considerable income but with minimal development costs as these were older areas with only a low level of maintenance costs. They have been left with newer growth areas crying out for new infrastructure but now missing a major source of income which has put a lot of pressure on their plans & put many in jeopardy as either being delayed or even scrapped.
Can't blame HFI or the Hills Shire for these circumstances as they both work closely together to provide the best possible outcomes for all of us.
