The recently cancelled meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow night. We will soon see if the clubs have learnt from last time. My intuition says that there will be a quorum at the meeting tomorrow night.

Oh wise Oracle, the constitution states that when a general meeting is held and there are not enough members present for a quorum than a rescheduled meeting must be held in the folloiwng week, on the same day and time and at the same venue. If there were enough clubs at the last meeting and some thought a quorum was 75% as opposed to the correct amount being 60% then it may be that some do not understand the rules.
It also appears the Policy developed for General Meetings published on the website contradicts the constitution. It should be checked / amended to avoid any prior and future governance mistakes.

Happy - what you have mentioned is part of the constitution in regards to general meetings. Below is an extract:-
"If within half an hour from the time appointed for the meeting, a quorum is not present, the meeting shall be adjourned until the same day in the next week at the same time and place or to such other day and at such other time and place as the chairperson may determine and if at the adjourned meeting a quorum is not present within half an hour from the time appointed for the meeting, the meeting will lapse."
You will note that it states "same time and place OR to such other day and at such other time and place as the chairperson may determine"... Just trying to clear any confusion up...

Glad to see you know or have read the rules red card.
The default position is same day, time and place in the following week. And yes it can be changed if the chairperson deems it to be but with semis on the horizon and most committee people heavily involved in running their clubs, seems odd a Thursday night being the most popular training night has been chosen over a Monday.
What will be will be.

Here is your chance to become a Hills Director & fulfill all your wants for a better Association. Read the following release from the Association: As most of you are aware, Joe Mirigliani has reluctantly resigned from his role as a director of Hills Football due to his ever increasing demands with work. Joe has been an instrumental part of Hills Football since the start. We can only thank Joe for all of his hard work in helping establish this Association. Due to Joes resignation, a place for a casual vacancy on Hills Footballs board has opened for a suitably qualified person. This casual vacancy role will be from their date of appointment until the next AGM which will be held in March / April 2019. This person may run as a candidate to be an elected director at this AGM. Any nominations for this position must have specific skills in either commerce, finance, marketing, law or business generally or such other skills which complement the board composition. Any casual board members cannot be delegates or committee members of any member club. The appointment of this casual vacancy position will be at the sole discretion of the Hills Football Board. Nominations will close at 5pm on the 17th August, 2018 To nominate, please follow this jotform link: form.jotform.co/82070100161841 If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask.

Surely would be helpful if the Association added even the briefest details of what the job role / approx commitment required / time / etc would be
I assume they are assuming people just somehow know what all that is. The only people that would automatically know would be those who have held a similar position before for a different Association, which may then not necessarily be what is needed

@oracle - I had a quick look at the hills football web site and the position did not seem to be listed there. Might be an idea to put the link on the website and facebook.

It has been months since your last post. Welcome back. I think most people who have worked on a Club Committee, & particularly those who have been a Club Delegate to the Association, would have a pretty good idea as to what would be involved ie, sacrificing a lot of your own personal time. This is probably where a lot of the likely candidates would come from. Board members spend a lot of their precious time attending meetings eg, Board Meetings, ACM, Sub-Committee Meetings, AGM, Meetings with the Council, FNSW, etc. Board Members have their own portfolio(s) to look after. In this case, with Joe Mirigliani stepping down, a vacancy exists for someone to take over Junior Football which was Joe's area of responsibility. Board Members also have to represent the Association & have to attend numerous functions, events, games, etc both within the Association & on the broader spectrum. Therefore, any prospective candidate must be prepared to sacrifice a lot of their time. I think that Joe may not have been the only Board Member struggling with the time commitments involved as it is not an easy job. Remember that the Hills is still a very young Association & everything has to be developed from the ground up which requires a lot of time & effort.

Any update on this Oracle??
Looks like it was not advertised on the website which may limit the audience.
Do you think the association will advise the members who has been nominated and let the clubs advise the association via the next meeting who they would like the board to appoint to fill the casual vacancy??
