So some interesting results in Div 2..
Baulko Blue lost to the Hills Knights ... 4-1. The loss of their keeper last week had an impact on the team. Whilst the replacement keeper put up a valiant effort it was not to be for the Blues. There must have been something in the air at Ted yesterday since the Ref went down injured before half time leaving his duties to the AR (whilst he tried to do his best all could see that he was out of his element - however qudos for giving it a go), then the replacement Blue keeper went down like a cold beer after a game from an twisted ankle. From my perspective they will be in the top 4 at the pointy end of the season. However they just need to score some of the easy goals on offer and play like the team that I have seen in the past.
Baulko Red beat Coolong - 2-1..... Another interesting game since Coolong NoEsky FC have the legs to keep running and know how to pass to ball around it was interesting to see this result. The Reds used their strength to muscle the game and not let Coolong in.
Lets see where this comp will end but I can see at least 6 teams capable of making the finals.

In fairness to the AR, I think the Baulko coach and sideline did themselves a bigger disservice by getting stuck him into so much. He didn't make any horrendous decisions.
When your own player (Baulkos right back) says to your coach words to the effect of, '..can you just shut up as he hasn't blown a thing for us since you all started laying into him..' probably should light a light bulb.
Seemed the penalty he awarded tipped the scales for (some) angry old men to become shouty angry old men. Probably worth remembering we both got awarded a pen for near enough identical fouls.
I asked the ref if he was ok at the start of the second half (as the kid didnt really look like he was enjoying himself) and he said to me, just ask everyone to take it easy on me, which I quite firmly reiterated to my team (and yours). Then 5 minutes later your keeper is screaming at him like he has stolen his favourite goat and cooked it in a stew?
Anyways, Baulko Blue a vastly different team to the one we played first roundish, you guys must have been missing more than just a keeper?

blahblah ... interesting way of looking at it.
"He didn't make any horrendous decisions" ... beg to differ on that one.. There was one major decision where Blue player was going for a header to goal (at about the 6 yeard box) from a cross then got man handled from behind with a push and arms all over him by the KNights player and no penalty awarded.
But any case from behind the fence i could not count the number of fouls given to the Knights but when the same thing occured the other way it was play on. I even heard the coach having a chat with your players on the bench about it and they were even perplexed as to some of the calls (push in back etc). But I agree that the coach should have kept his mouth closed but I guess frustrations needs a place to vent.
Would the score have been different if some of these calls went both ways ... Yes. Would Baulko have won it.... No
As I said in my original post ... he was doing his best but out of his element.

What a round we just had ...
Baulko Red have had an easy win against the Kolts by 8-2. I heard that the Kolts should have scored some more but they need to train at putting the ball in the back of the net and not worry about which beers are brought to the game ....
Baulko Blue had a tough game against the Winsto Bears. Baulko with Zero subs at the start of the game while the Bears had an impressive 3 subs. However that changed within the first 25 minutes and the Bears were left with only one sub. I guess the cold weather, mature men getting on in years and the lack of dencorub resulted in 2 of their players coming on with injuries. 0-0 at half time saw for an entertaining second half. Both teams played fair and fair play to the ref who kept the game flowing and calm. End result was 2-0 to the Blues but it was a hard fought victory.
The Knights have slayed the dragons from Coolong 2-1. Amazing game today were the knights used their strength to outplay a weaker dragons side. Some fortunate bounces of the ball to the knights and a few well played moves resulted in the victory. Very good result for the two Baulko teams who now both jump ahead of Coolong on the table.
Did not see the Norwest v Rocks game but 3-1 win for Norwest.

Dropbear the Knights v Coolong game also saw 2 players sent from the Knights as the referee bought into the Coolong antics.

Thanks Liverpool. It is interesting that the Dragons are falling over and "doing a Neymar" and the Ref buys into it. In any case with 2 less players for the next few weeks it will be interesting to see how the Knights go.

Dragons are an odd bunch, they play hard until people play hard back then they fall over yelling incoherently and gesticulating wildly (this coming from a player who has made a career out of falling over).
Can't really complain about our two reds (both were second yellows), last one was for our defender and one of their players yelling in each others face, only problem for us was only one person was yelling in English (which the ref could understand) I think only our player got a yellow and was his second yellow (I was the other end of the field, didn't hear what was said but if it was swearing it could have been straight red).
Ref did a very good job controlling a game with a load of tackles flying in with only 9 Knights for the last 10 minutes and dealing with some very frustrated angry old men.
Big shout out to the flying Dragon for the goal line clearance with a diving header to somehow nudge a pigeon hole shot onto the bar and out, smashing himself into the post in the process.
All in all satisfying win after they did us over earlier in the season when we were short numbers.

Blah... thanks for the detailed update. Great to get them on the forum so that other teams know how all is going and what to look out for. Good luck with the game next week and hope that you can beat the Red team and make it 4 in a row.
Yes I have seen the Dragons fall over and cry like their legs have been cut off, then when the free kick is awarded to them get up and run after the long ball. Interesting method but not in the spirit of the game.
Currently it is an interesting competition with the top 6 (potentially 7 dependent on other results) fighting for 4 spots and only 7 games to go. Who will make it?

I heard that during the Bauklo Blue v Rockets game one of the rockets players injured his leg to the point that car had to be driven on the field to get him. Any news on the severity of the injury --- will he be back this year or is he out for the rest of the season.

Both coaches hobbling around is always fun!!

Final 4 sorted now for Div 2, we scraped through to 4th spot with GF half the rate of the 3 teams above us.
Our team of 17 defenders and one striker (who is really a goalkeeper) kept us to the best GA in the division.
Any of the top 3 could finish first, assume that none of the 3 want to finish first (to avoid going back to Div 1 for either of the BH teams) so prepare for shenanigans galore in the final round game of BH vs BH (2 vs 3) to avoid finishing first!

Congrats Baulko Blue on Minor Premiers, definitely best team in the comp, I’m sure they will go well in div 1 next year.
